On March 8, we celebrate International Women’s Day, and we here at Tobler’s Flowers couldn’t be more excited. This is a time when we honor the vibrant, visionary women in our lives and renew our efforts to make life better for all women. This year’s theme is #PressForProgress, and the focus is on gender parity. While we here in the U.S. don’t have a floral gift-giving tradition per se for IWD, many of the over 100 countries who also celebrate IWD do. We should take a cue from them.

This year, IWD has designated violet its official color, picking up on Pantone’s Color of the Year choice of Ultra Violet. When you’re selecting your s, why not choose a design that reflects the palette of IWD? Purple has long been associated with the struggle for women’s equality, beginning with the suffragettes, who used it as their primary color. It’s a dignified color that suggests loyalty and majesty. We love how it looks in our Purple Rain design.
